A Rich Heritage, Beautifully Restored

Originally established in 1924 on a neighbouring property in the heart of Queensland’s Darling Downs, the Ellangowan Woolshed was once the meeting place for the Ellangowan community. In 2020, this historic woolshed was lovingly relocated to its new home, where it proudly stands today, restored to its former glory with a touch of modern country elegance.

Just 10 minutes from the quaint country town of Leyburn, and only an hour from the regional centres of Toowoomba and Warwick, the Woolshed now sits on 2,000 acres of farmland owned by the Webcke family. The property runs sheep and cattle, with large areas of cropping land, and at its centre, the Woolshed has become the heart of the farm.

The Woolshed holds special meaning for owner Shane and his wife Allison, who first met over 3 decades ago in the Woolshed when it stood at the original Ellangowan site, a childhood friend’s family property. When the property was sold in 2020, with the sentiment of wishing to keep the rich history and beauty of the Woolshed encased in its slowly decaying skeleton, Shane made the bold decision to relocate the Woolshed to his own property to give it new life and purpose on the farm.

After hosting many memorable events in its new location, the idea to share the Woolshed’s magic with others was born. Today, the Ellangowan Woolshed is not only a tribute to the past, but a truly unique and charming venue for weddings, events, and special celebrations a like.
